Through recent and numerous power outage occurrences, Indonesian Power company (Perusahaan Listrik Negara: PLN) has started an initiative for mid-scale power generation scheme. This is done to support the 10000MW PLTU (coal powered generator) that in certain cases has lost its momentum to get some of the projects up and running and moreover completing them.

This initiative is involving setting up smaller scale power generation using diesel fuel instead of full scale coal fired or gas fired powerplant. The purpose being as an intermezzo before time consuming construction reach the point it becomes fully operational.

Currently, PT Makro is pushing inwards into the power generation field and Industry.  Recently, we have won contracts to provide electricity to numerous location through burning of diesel fuel. This method of power generation is called PLTD which is an acronym for Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Diesel. The contracts won are located at various cities, town and municipals namely:

·         Putu Sibau, Kalimantan Barat

·         Nangga Pinoh, Kalimantan Barat

·         Semitau, Kalimantan Barat

·         Balai Karangan, Kalimantan Barat

·         Bau bau, Sulawesi Selatan

·         Wangi wangi, Sulawesi Selatan

·         Bengkayang, Kalimantan Barat

·         Tanjung Selor, Kalimantan Barat

·         Kota Baru, kalimatan Barat

 The contracts are in 9 cities that totalled for 20 MW capacity in electric generation.

This is done by making initial investments to set up the infrastructure which we build, own and operate. PLN will then purchase electricity based on per KW/h usage basis.
